Bell and Howell Expands Mail Inserting Portfolio with High-Speed Solution for Mid-Volume Mailers

Bell and Howell Commander provides higher performance and flexibility with a smaller footprint

DURHAM, N.C. (August 30, 2018) — Bell and Howell, an industry-leading technology services and solutions company, announced today the launch of its latest offering in the production mail space. Ideal for office environments and small- to medium-sized production mail operations, the Bell and Howell Commander inserter offers modularity and flexibility without sacrificing speed or performance.

“The Commander is the perfect solution for production environments that are looking to add capacity, without the cost and footprint of traditional high-end inserting equipment,” said Earle Painter, Vice President and General Manager of Production Mail at Bell and Howell. “It provides an unparalleled level of efficiency, accuracy and modularity in a very compact machine.”

The Commander can process letters or flats at speeds of up to 6,000 pieces per hour with a duty cycle of 500,000 per month. A simple-to-use touchscreen enables quick and easy setup and changeover between jobs, resulting in faster order turnaround and improved operational workflows. The Commander can also process personalized packages, including the matching of multiple inputs, with its Optical Mark Recognition (OMR), Barcode Recognition (BCR) and 2D reading capabilities.

The Commander’s modular design allows for multiple configurations, with the ability to add up to eight insert stations that can handle a wide range of functions, including single sheets, books, staple sets, pre-folded items or return envelopes. The insert stations also enable operators to pre-select the number of items fed from each station and automatically switch to another station when one runs low.

With the addition of the Commander, Bell and Howell further enhances its wide range of inserting and finishing solutions for transactional, direct, and specialty mail operations. The company also offers reconditioning services as well as refurbished and remanufactured equipment for businesses looking to upgrade their operations without having to invest in new systems.
