Girls Engineering Change Workshop a Success
Bell and Howell served as a corporate sponsor for the organization last year.
The two-hour workshop featured how-to’s on soldering, components, and learning to read and follow assembly instructions. The result? Six calculators sent off to different states for assembly. Students even got a crash course on static electricity from a Bell and Howell engineer.
Not only did the workshop create a sense of unity, but also provided a strong foundation of learning and inspiration for all in attendance.
The idea for the program is to appeal to the nurturing side of girls and show them how to help the world with engineering by making products that can be donated to worthy organizations. The group has since expanded to North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
