Bell and Howell’s Automated Grocery Pickup Solution Continues Adoption

The QuickCollect GO!™ Pod delivers an uncompromised guest experience on their terms using robotic technology.

DURHAM, N.C., June 20th, 2023 – Bell and Howell is thrilled to announce that another tier 1 grocery chain in the United States has installed Bell and Howell’s industry-leading BH QuickCollect™ GO! Pod to elevate customer experience and deliver exceptional last-mile efficiency.

Order hand-off to a guest is a time-consuming logistical process. There are trade-offs because the guest and retailer’s associate (or courier) must be synchronized to transfer the items and maintain a chain of custody for food safety. The guest likely ends up waiting for the associate or the associate waits for the guest. This can happen wherever the transition occurs – at home or in the parking lot at the store. Missing items, associate or customer delays, and other issues can cause substantial disruptions to the flow and a reduction in the number of drops (deliveries) per hour with consequential negative impacts on customer satisfaction.

In contrast, Bell and Howell’s QuickCollect GO! products eliminate frustrating logistical interruptions by utilizing unique asynchronous automation technology allowing both grocers and guests to optimize their time independently. Grocers are freed from sequential order processing, the challenges of staging and marshaling orders, and rigorous constraints around time slots. Guests have “drive up & go” freedom to receive their order or package on their terms, at more convenient times, and without waiting.

With e-commerce transforming how grocers interact with their customers, many realized the pitfalls of their existing processes and have explored new innovative approaches to optimize their operations. Bell and Howell’s suite of QuickCollect™ Solutions provides innovative technology and trouble-free experiences that help alleviate the many headaches, inconveniences, and last-mile delivery costs that often plague other methods.

“We are excited to see retailers adopt our QuickCollect GO! platform as a new evolution in their guest relationship. Creating asynchronous automation technology helps solve a major irritant for both the consumer and the retailer, breaking their interdependency. However, this technology is just one element of a platform designed to enable a retailer to consistently deliver the promise of their brand in a surprisingly novel way. We can see consumers overwhelmingly appreciate the “drive up & go” freedom and flexibility that puts them in control. From this point, we envision retailers offering new and innovative value propositions to guests directly from the platform further driving customer delight and brand loyalty.” said James Hermanowski, Vice President of Bell and Howell’s QuickCollect™ Solutions business.

The QuickCollect GO!™ Pod is a self-contained solution designed for simplified outdoor drop-in installations. It enables new business models including “drive-up & go” at remote sites to broaden brand reach, as well as 24/7 automation without added store hours or staff.  The QuickCollect GO!™ Pod seamlessly accepts orders from logistics hubs, automated customer and micro-fulfillment centers (CFC and MFC), manual fulfillment operations, and other sources. QuickCollect GO! products are an excellent fit for grocery-specific needs with configurations to address frozen and refrigerated temperature control requirements as well as ambient configurations capable of processing multiple envelope and package sizes and weights.
