Bell and Howell to Feature Criterion Apex Sorter at National Postal Forum

Also Presenting Software, Service and Parcel Solutions

Durham, N.C., May 11, 2017 – The National Postal Forum is widely regarded as the mailing and shipping industry’s premier educational and networking event, attracting more than 4,000 professionals every year. This year Bell and Howell will be showcasing its sorting, software, parcel and service solutions in Booth 401 of the NPF Exhibit Hall from May 21-24 in Baltimore.

Bell and Howell’s booth will feature live demonstrations of the Criterion Apex DM sorter and its newest addition, the Indicia Printer. This high-speed sorter features new technology that allows users to easily sort heavyweight, heavy-letter, slick/glossy or tall mail and much more at operating speeds up to 72,000 pieces per hour.

The revamped Criterion Apex DM now features the following technology upgrades.

  • Guides throughout the system that support mailpieces above the maximum specified height for letters
  • Improved diverting into sort bins through an improved three-finger diverter and improved bin paddle
  • Pre-programmed feeder modes that optimize first- and second-pass mail processing for difficult-to-process mailpiece types

Additionally, Booth 401 will include information and displays on the following:

  • IMb-Vestigate® software applications that compares USPS unclaimed postage reports against data from the NetSort Sorting Platform or manually imported Mail.dat files, and provides the data needed to validate or dispute USPS results
  • Parcel packaging automation systems, including CartonWrap
  • ParcelMgr and other parcel-sortation and encoding solutions
  • Bell and Howell Services, including multi-vendor service, preventative maintenance and product refurbishment

“Our products are designed to help mailers and shippers maximize postage discounts, increase productivity, investigate undocumented mailpieces and parcels, optimize e-commerce fulfilment, and reduce downtime while staying ahead of evolving postal requirements,” said Mike Swift, general manager and vice president of sorting and parcel. “Our CEO, Ramesh Ratan, said at last year’s NPF that this is an exciting time to be in mailing and e-commerce, and our technology enhancements and offerings fully reflect that.”

“Service has been a tremendous growth area for Bell and Howell, and NPF will be a great venue to promote our capabilities and expertise,” said Eric Johnson, vice president, global service sales. “We have more than 600 full-time field service technicians across North America, and can service the products of more than 50 manufacturers from around the globe.”
